Water Film
by Maria Katerina Ieridou
A Cypriot girl carries precious cargo as she runs across a ribbon. The story takes on a physical form and a storyteller’s hand become the stage for a fabric recreation of celluloid films. This lyrical version of the illusion of ‘the moving image’ was influenced by the tableaux of artist Adamantios Diamantis and inspired by Cyprot folkore. Whether the girl is carrying her ego, her trust or the idea she has of herself, it is only when the cargo is broken that its value is realized.

In the City of Dust
by Haris Pellapaisiotis, Maud Nivet
A collaborative animation project by French artist Maud Nivet and Cypriot artist Haris Pellapaisiotis. Originating from Pellapaisiotis’ Walking Narratives and Affective Mapping series, the work began with a walk, through Nicosia – starting at Nivet’s apartment, passing the Pedieos River and reaching the chapel Ayios Yeoryios. Their shared reflections shaped a poetic, multi-sensory narrative combining text, image and sound. Rather than documenting the walk literally, the artists embraced an introspective, organic process, creating a poetic layered artwork rooted in emotional resonance, mutual observation and the subtle power of place.
Original Title • In the City of Dust
Script • Rather than following a conventional script, Nivet composed a poetic impression of the walk, which the artists responded to visually though animation.

A Dream, I Remember
by Chiara Cecchetto
“A dream, I remember” is the title of an animated short film born with the aim of visually narrating a dream I had one night in 2020. This visual experimentation is configured as an opportunity to talk about childhood, loss, fear and growth, through the narration of the relationship between a brother and a sister and their way of affectionately remembering the time spent together. The attempt is to make the viewer a oneironaut, dragging him into the faded memories of a grown-up child, in a dimension where dreams and reality merge within a world dominated by the sea, evanescent and sometimes opaque.

Masadeg
by Federico Attardo
Masadeg in Reggio Emilia dialect means the first cutting of the hay in May. At the beginning of the 20th century, this time of year coincided with large village festivals to celebrate the arrival of summer.
The short animated film attempts to establish a dialogue between a past memory based on the village community and the present day where the community spirit has been lost in favour of an individualistic approach.
The animated short thus traverses the themes of loneliness and death, its first design just posthumous to the Covid years.

love relationship with my grandfather, who died too soon. The creation process is described as a ritual of acceptance of mourning.

During his journey he remembers his youth and his ice pickers friends with nostalgia. Each day Baltazar and his lama risk their lives climbing up the Chimborazo. In one of these journeys candela dies leaving Baltazar alone. As years go by, the city continues to grow and the blazing sun gets closer which causes the glacier to melt.
