Frame

The Frame Project, co-coordinated by CINANIMA – International Animated Film Festival of Espinho (Portugal) and Animafest (Cyprus), provides creative animation education to students aged 6 to 17 in both formal and informal learning contexts, encouraging youth expression through the art of animation under the guidance of professional animators.

In the same way as the FAN Tour, the FAN Frame workshops will run throughout 2025 and 2026, focusing respectively on the themes of “Memory” and “Freedom”. All results will be published on FAN Animation Hub.

The project comprises three core components:
– Production of animated short films for children aged 6–9, through 25-hour and/or 50-hour workshops, depending on the context in which they are carried out.
– Creation of short animated films using, for instance, smartphones, for students aged 9–14.
– Development of Augmented Reality (AR) animation projects for students aged 14–17, applied to real-world surfaces (buildings, posters, books, etc.), although the use of AR is not mandatory.

Closely related to the Frame core components, the project also includes two Annual Animation Trainers Meetings (2025, 2026), designed to bring together and foster exchange among educators and animation professionals from across Europe.

The objectives of FAN Frame include fostering appreciation for European animated cinema, developing technical and storytelling skills, and broadening creative learning environments.
